Mark Berry is the founder and driving force behind Dependable Mortgage Solutions (DMS), bringing over 18 years of mortgage industry experience across lending, brokering, and private lending.

Born in Saskatchewan and raised in Alberta, Mark proudly calls the Edmonton region home. He graduated with Honours with Distinction from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) in 2003 with a Diploma in Business Administration.

After exploring diverse sectors — including hydro power generation early in his career — Mark entered the mortgage industry in 2007. Over nearly two decades, he has developed deep expertise in traditional bank lending, mortgage brokering, and, most recently, residential private lending.

In 2025, Mark launched Dependable Mortgage Solutions Corp. with a clear mission: to transform the private lending experience in Alberta by blending professionalism, transparency, and service excellence.

A few things most people don’t know about Mark
1. On the farm in Saskatchewan, they had a blueberry patch called the “Berry Patch.” Mark would pick wild blueberries and bike 30 minutes to the highway to sell them.
A good day meant $5 – Not Bad for 7 Days’ Work — let’s hope his business skills have improved.
2. On that same farm, Mark raised over 100 rabbits. They were shown at rabbit shows across Saskatchewan before becoming supper.
Don’t let those TikTok Financial Influencers fool you, Mark’s Family didn’t do this for the money or the fame or even the glitz and glamour of rabbit shows — but for that sweet rabbit fur and rabbit’s feet.
3. Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood once got to meet Mark.
Garth & Trish still talk about that meet-and-greet with Mark, his wife Lana, and his father- and mother-in-law to this day.
It has truly been the highlight of their somewhat successful careers.
4. Mark played ultimate frisbee for about five years, and his throwing skills are still spoken of across this great nation.
